FAQ

What is the level cap?
The main adventure path in Dawnsbury Days goes from character level 1 to level 4. The DLC adventure path (The Profane Barrier) goes from character level 5 to level 8. You can also play free encounters at any level from 1–8, but each such encounter has a specific suggested character level.

Where can I download screenshots?
From the Steam store pages of the game (base game and expansion).

Is it a cRPG?
Dawnsbury Days is a turn-based tactics game with cRPG elements.

The combat rules are faithful to the PF2E tabletop roleplaying game and you can build and level up your party and manage your inventory as you would in a cRPG, and the game's tone and atmosphere give the vibe of playing a roleplaying game with friends around a tabletop. However, there is no overworld or exploration mode: you only directly control your characters on a battlemap during combat encounters.

Is it official content?
Dawnsbury Days is set in its own original fantasy world of Our Point of Light, where a group of young adventurers must protect their town from a sinister enemy. It uses the content and rules of the PF2E tabletop roleplaying game only under the terms of the Open Game License.

Does the game use the remastered rules?

Dawnsbury Days uses the terminology and framework of the original PF2E released under the Open Game License, but makes some of the same streamlining decisions as the remastered rules, such as refreshing all focus points in 10 minutes and ignoring spell components.

The remastered rules are released only under the terms of the ORC license, and ORC and OGL are incompatible: Dawnsbury Days can either use OGL content or ORC content, but not both. Much of the content in Dawnsbury Days is available only under the OGL and not under ORC (e.g. psychic, kineticist and many monsters, spells, items and feats). For this reason and for other legal reasons, Dawnsbury Days must use only OGL content.

How moddable is the game?

Dawnsbury Days is very moddable.

You can create your own adventures or add new ancestries, classes, spells and more. There are already almost 50 mods available on the Steam Workshop, including many mods which add new classes, some mods which add new campaigns, and even a total overhaul mod which adds a roguelike mode to the game.

What is the timeline of development?

I originally created Quest for the Golden Candelabra, a freeware precursor game to Dawnsbury Days, in February–May 2023.

Then I took a year to develop Dawnsbury Days itself, which was released in March 2024.

Then I continued to improve upon Dawnsbury Days post-release for the next year while also working on the level 5–8 expansion, The Profane Barrier, which will release in April 2025.
